It is not cultural appropriation that is wrong - that is a natural consequence of peaceful mixing of cultures and is precisely what we all desire. No, it is cultural misappropriation that is the problem. The seizing of cultural icons, that have actual significance, entirely for commercial promotion in a way that offends the original culture. The latter part is vital. It is not the province of social justice warriors to object. It must be done by representatives of the original culture. Thus Maori elders from the local marae objecting to the use of the Haka to promote a three day sale at the Warehouse is perfectly reasonable. Someone objecting to another person wearing moccasins, even if that person has some Native American ancestry, does not.macdoctorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13355791620208619049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8442430064359197279.post-10345028709652882322017-06-16T16:19:35.998+12:002017-06-16T16:19:35.998+12:00Who needs unique dishes when we have Karl blogging...Who needs unique dishes when we have Karl blogging. q Keep them coming.Ronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15002173078113209487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8442430064359197279.post-62387779165468302972017-06-16T16:18:26.651+12:002017-06-16T16:18:26.651+12:00Well we might not have any unique dishes Karl, but...Well we might not have any unique dishes Karl, but we have you.
