He is a truthful man. He hates lies. Over and over again he’s said he wants a lie detector test (he can be exasperatingly naïve) for himself, for the police (especially the officer consequently asked to resign from the force), for CYF and for the psychologist contracted to CYF, who wrote her 60+ page on the strength of 20-minute and 10-minute interviews with Radha and Murray respectively – and on many more pages of statements delivered to her by CYF.
For Fertility Associates to profit at the taxpayer’s expense on the first treatment was, for a couple with such differences in age and ethnicity, unwise. The second treatment was unconscionable.
The follow-up care for a woman who’d lost two children in utero and suffered such severe toxaemia that she very nearly died - and the surviving triplet too - was pathetic. And then, to take three children from a happily married couple and consign them to a solo Maori carer (who’s since removed them to another city)! Was that okay because the carer was brown, like their mother was brown?
The CYF complaint process, endured with gritted teeth to the highest level, was a whitewash.
Those two good people now see their children for one hour every three months, with a supervisor whom they pay to supervise them.
And in between times, they have two canaries for company instead.
Julia du Fresnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03711274892835595267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8442430064359197279.post-66440900389867267952017-11-17T07:18:46.569+13:002017-11-17T07:18:46.569+13:00They had several concerns, all of which I understo...They had several concerns, all of which I understood. There were simple, practical issues - such as how do you illustrate a multi-page article in which the protagonists are anonymous, so couldn't be photographed? But I think the key thing is that they were reluctant to take up the case, or be seen as taking up the case, of a couple whom they thought had contributed in many ways to their own predicament. Murray's rape conviction was a turn-off - they thought it would negate a lot of sympathy readers might otherwise have felt. To be fair, the editors I dealt with gave the story serious consideration. It was what you might describe as a line call.
