The real danger is a loss of independence,.Little has been said about the role of the editorial consultant Peter Bale who is looking at the combined editorial approach of new combined service. TVNZ is mostly straight but bland, while Radio New Zealand frequently supports government policy.. This is particularly the case with three topics - race,.immigration and gender. It RNZ shows sighs of supporting controversial concepts like critical race theory RNZ supporters may be concerned that the commercial instincts of TVNZ may undermine RNZ, But the bigger issue is the loss of independence - such as it is, I understand there is concern at TVNZ that the combined operation - if it happens - wuill transfer woke orthodoxy from RNZ to TVNZ.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03795575742612940961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8442430064359197279.post-71595891500388712012021-04-19T20:16:41.558+12:002021-04-19T20:16:41.558+12:00A 'state-controlled media behemoth' is wha...A 'state-controlled media behemoth' is what I can remember 50 years ago when just about every broadcaster, bar a few renegade radio stations was government owned and controlled. It wasn't until the late 1980s that a non-state TV channel arrived. Most likely, Labour Party members miss the good old days, but without the fairness and balance that was expected in those days.

But what would it achieve? TVNZ News is basically 'hip-hip-horay' for whatever the Jacinda government does. Radio NZ (or RNZ as it now calls itself) is much the same, and certainly staffed by left-wingers/members of the Wokerati.

It doesn't sound as if the Library and Information Advisory Commission had any useful terms of reference and therefore no prospect of producing anything meaningful expect copious ambiguous waffle. There are plenty of similar government bodies that also applies to.transpress nzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15805691795141530555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8442430064359197279.post-20180445060666279592021-04-17T12:48:17.065+12:002021-04-17T12:48:17.065+12:00There are a number of things going on at present e...There are a number of things going on at present eg the extension of the Treaty partnership (which didn’t exist in 1840, miraculously appeared from Lord Cooke’s imagination and now appears to be holy writ, at least as far as Maori and the left are concerned). This merger will make it easier for the government to control the narrative. That way you don’t have to justify your actions. Be very afraid. Paranoid? TVNZ and Radio NZ already toe the Party line fastidiously so there is little real work to be done by the quango other than to enjoy the endless lunches and vacuous meetings with an equally vacuous Minister that you affectionately recall.Odysseushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04745489060434244478noreply@blogger.com
