Thanks Gary, but no one should be considered courageous for simply doing what should be normal in a free and open society - i.e. expressing lawful and honestly held opinions.
ReplyDeleteCompliments of the Season to you Karl. Thanks for all of your insights over the last fascinating year
ReplyDeleteYou may be right about "expressing lawful and honestly held opinions" Karl but some can do this a hellovalot better on the the important subjects of the day than others and we read your excellent blog for this very reason. Thank you for the effort you continue to put into the debates of the day. Have a great family Christmas and New Year.

Thanks to you and the others with the courage to swim against the tide. The country will look back on you people with gratitude, once we have restored our great country back to where it was just a couple of long years ago. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI read all your posts, but comment rarely. Thanks for writing Karl. Look forward to reading in the New Year.
ReplyDeleteCheers for the year of good reads, Karl. And when you piss people off, you really know you've written something more than a little worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteKarl - many thanks for your year. We all need more of it. The nation would be a better place.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Christmas and I look forward to your input in election year. Regards BD
Hello Karl, you always need to remember that the world has changed and being an editor or journalist today is much different to your day. You were my News Editor and exceptional, as were all the chief reporters of the day. There wasn’t the pressure of the internet. Whether you agree or disagree with a direction or opinion, if it makes you think, react or discuss it is good. I currently work as a print producer for Stuff, primarily on The Dominion Post. Today we have farewelled Anna Fifield. She is not your cup of tea so to speak. That is fine. However I would suggest her news sense, commitment, clarity of thinking and skills were at the highest level of journalism whatever the era. When you work with an editor you always want to feel they are in control of the news agenda. Fifield knew her stuff and worked hard. We may or may not agree with her vision but at least she had a view, tried to make an imprint. She held her staff to high standards. For that she deserves respect, as you had my respect. All the best. Have a great Christmas. Grant Harding
ReplyDeleteMay you have a joyful Christmas Karl. Your commentaries are a beacon of reason in an increasing dark world. Next year is likely to be even more challenging. Please keep writing.
